Instead, the hydrogen conversion uses a generator that produces the oxyhydrogen in small quantities as it is being burned. This means that there is no dangerous build up of gas inside the generator.
Oxyhydrogen is in fact extremely easy to produce – using electrolysis, an electrical current from the engine is used to separate the atoms of water into gases. When these gases are burned, they produce heat and water – the heat is used in the engine, and the water is expelled in the exhaust.
In fact, the water improves the efficiency of the engine, too, as it adds steam power to the expanding exhaust gasses that drive the motion of the engine! What’s more, it helps to clean carbon out of the engine, making it cleaner too.
